The screen you don’t see

A retractable screen sits in a slim cassette against the door frame. Draw it across when you want airflow, and it retracts out of sight when you don’t. No permanent screen door covering the entry you chose. No sagging frame. Nothing on view when it is not in use.

We are an authorized Phantom dealer. We install the full Phantom range: the Legacy for single doors, a double configuration for French and patio openings, the XL for wide multi-panel openings where a double is not practical, and motorized screens for openings up to 40 feet.

What it costs

Most retractable screen companies in San Diego quote only after an in-home appointment. We publish our prices.

Retractable screen door service or repair$195 + parts

These are installed prices, not the cost of a unit shipped to your door. We measure the opening, order the unit to size, install it, and back the work with a one-year warranty.

How long it takes

Every Phantom is built to your opening, so there is a lead time. We measure first, place the order, and return to install.

  • Single and double Phantom, standard colors — approximately 1 week.
  • Phantom XL — approximately 4 weeks.
  • Special colors, any model — approximately 8 weeks.

If your timeline is tight, let us know when you call. A standard color is the fastest option by some margin.

Already have a retractable that has stopped working?

This is where most homeowners struggle to find help. Retractable screens have moving parts — a spring-loaded roller, a bottom track, a latch — and when one fails, the company that originally supplied it is often no longer around.

  • We service Phantom, ClearView and Mirage. Mesh replacement, roller and spring faults, track cleaning and alignment, latch and handle repairs.
  • Service is $195 plus parts. Where the cost of a repair approaches the cost of replacement, we will tell you.
  • We cannot service Pella or Rolscreen. Those parts are dealer-only, so you would need to go through Pella directly. We prefer to say so up front rather than take up your time.

Which unit fits your opening

  • Legacy — 48 inches and under. A single entry or patio door, with one cassette on one side.
  • Double — up to 96 inches. Two units meeting in the middle, each retracting to its own side. The right configuration for French and double doors.
  • XL — over 48 inches, where a double is not practical. Wide multi-panel and triple-panel sliders, up to 15 feet.
  • Motorized — up to 40 feet. Large openings, lowered at the touch of a button.

Where a retractable earns its keep

  • Front entries — airflow without a screen door permanently covering the door you chose.
  • French and double doors — a pair that meets in the middle and retracts to both sides.
  • Wide patio and slider openings — where a conventional sliding screen would be too large to run smoothly.
  • Large or motorized openings — folding glass walls and covered patios, where the screen lowers at the touch of a button.
  • Coastal properties — a retractable spends most of its life inside its housing rather than exposed to salt air.

Why us

Screens are our only business, not a sideline to a window company. We are mobile, we measure and install on site, and we service what we install rather than referring you to the manufacturer. As an authorized Phantom dealer, a standard-color single or double is typically about a week from measurement to installation.

We work throughout San Diego County — Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, Bonita, Eastlake, Spring Valley, El Cajon, Coronado, Point Loma, La Jolla and the coastal north county.

Questions we are asked

How long does a retractable screen door last?
Properly installed, protected from direct weather and kept clean, a quality retractable will last for years. The mesh is the wear item, and mesh is replaceable — a torn screen does not mean replacing the whole system.

Will a retractable work on my door?
Usually. Retractables mount to the existing frame and are built to your opening. What matters is the depth of the jamb, whether a screen door is already in place, and the direction the door swings. Send us the opening width and a photo and we can confirm.

Can you do a double or French door?
Yes — two units meeting in the middle, each retracting to its own side. That is the $1,495 configuration, for an opening up to 96 inches.

Do you repair screens you did not install?
Yes — we service Phantom, ClearView and Mirage. We cannot source Pella or Rolscreen parts.

How soon can you come out?
We can usually measure within a few days. The unit itself is built to your opening — approximately one week for a standard-color single or double, four weeks for an XL, and eight weeks for a special color.
