Why beach screens wear out faster
Pacific Beach and Mission Beach sit right on the water, and salt air is harder on window screens here than almost anywhere else in San Diego. It corrodes aluminum frames and breaks down the coating on standard fiberglass mesh, so a screen that would last a decade inland can need attention within a couple of seasons.
Most of the housing here dates from the 1920s through the 1960s, which means original aluminum frames that have been sitting a few blocks from the ocean for a very long time. Usually the frame is still straight and it is the mesh that has gone brittle, so re-screening at $45 to $85 is both the cheaper answer and the right one. If there is any corrosion in the frame, we recommend a new screen and frame at $59 to $119 rather than re-screening it.

There is a $159 minimum applied to the work, never added on top. One small screen still comes to $159; three or more takes you past it.
Rentals and turnovers
A large share of Mission Beach and the streets nearest the boardwalk is owned as short-term rental, and we do a lot of turnover work — a torn screen or a sticking door sorted between guests rather than waiting for a quiet week. Tell us the changeover date and we will work to it.
