Mobile window screen repair in El Cajon
El Cajon sits in a valley that runs ten to fifteen degrees hotter than the coast through the summer, and that shows up in screens. UV breaks down fiberglass mesh from the top down, so the first thing we usually see on an El Cajon house is south- and west-facing screens that have gone chalky and tear when you press them, while the north-side screens look almost new.
It also means solar screens actually earn their keep here in a way they do not in Coronado. A west-facing bedroom in Fletcher Hills that is unusable at four in the afternoon is a real problem, and solar mesh is a $29.95 upgrade per screen rather than a window replacement.
What we see most in El Cajon
- Sun-destroyed mesh on one side of the house. Re-screening the affected screens at $65 each, standard size, is almost always the fix — the frames out here are usually straight and sound because there is no salt.
- Big aluminum sliders from the 1960s and 70s. A lot of El Cajon housing stock is single-story tract homes with wide patio sliders. Rollers wear out, tracks pack with dust, and the door gets hard to move. Sliding glass door service is $245 for a standard door; rollers run $39–$59 each and most doors take two.
- Oversized window screens. Picture windows over 50 inches are common here. Those are $85 to re-screen and $119 to rebuild.
- Dust in the tracks. East County dust is hard on sliding screen doors. The $159 door service includes cleaning and lubricating the track, which is usually what the door actually needed.

Our minimum service call is $159, applied to the work — so a house with several sun-damaged screens is past the minimum on the first visit.

Why do only some of my screens look damaged?
Sun exposure. In El Cajon’s heat, south- and west-facing screens take far more UV than the north side of the house, so mesh on one or two elevations goes brittle and chalky years before the rest. It is normal to re-screen half a house and leave the other half alone.
Are solar screens worth it in El Cajon?
More here than almost anywhere else in the county. Solar mesh cuts heat and glare on west-facing rooms that get unusable in the afternoon, and it is a $29.95 upgrade per window screen rather than a window replacement. It is the single cheapest thing you can do about an overheating room.
My patio slider is hard to open. Do I need a new door?
Almost never. It is usually worn rollers and a track packed with dust. Sliding glass door service is $245 for a door up to 36 by 80 inches, with rollers at $39–$59 each if they need replacing.
