Re-screen the mesh or replace the whole screen?

Re-screening replaces the mesh and spline while keeping your existing frame. It is usually the practical choice when the frame is straight, the corners hold together and the screen fits the window.

A new window screen includes a new frame and mesh. It makes sense when a screen is missing, the frame is bent or corroded, or the existing screen no longer fits securely. We check the frame and opening before recommending a replacement.

How mobile replacement works

  1. Send a photo and a count. Tell us how many screens need attention and whether the old frames are available.
  2. We check the opening. We measure the fit and confirm whether the existing frame can be reused.
  3. Choose the mesh. Standard fiberglass is included. We can discuss pet-resistant, solar or fine no-see-um mesh for your windows.
  4. We build and fit the screen. Our mobile setup lets us build screens on site and check their fit before finishing the job.

Choose mesh for the way you use the room

Standard fiberglass mesh provides everyday insect screening and airflow. Pet-resistant mesh is an option for screens exposed to claws and pushing. Solar mesh can help with sun and glare, while fine no-see-um mesh is an option for smaller insects. Upgraded mesh adds $29.95 per window screen. We can explain the visibility and airflow tradeoffs before you choose.

Window screen replacement questions

Can you make a screen if the old one is missing?

Yes. We measure the window opening and check how the screen needs to fit. An old screen can help identify the frame style, but it is not required to start the process.

Is replacement more expensive than re-screening?

For a standard screen, re-screening is $65 and a new screen with a frame is $89. Reusing a sound frame saves money. The $159 minimum service visit applies to the total work.

Does exactly 50 inches count as XL?

Yes. A screen measuring 50 inches or more along its longest side is in the XL tier. The standard tier is 15 inches to under 50 inches.

Do you also repair screen doors?

Yes. See our screen door repair service for torn door mesh, dragging sliders and replacement options. Retractable systems have separate service details on our Phantom retractable screen doors page.
