Mobile window screen repair in Spring Valley
Spring Valley is hillside and canyon country, and two things follow from that. The houses are mostly 1950s through 1970s ranch homes with original aluminum window frames and original sliding doors, which means we are usually working on hardware that has been in place for fifty years. And a lot of lots back onto open canyon, which means bugs that standard mesh does not stop.
Old aluminum is good news, mostly. Inland frames do not corrode the way coastal ones do, so a fifty-year-old Spring Valley window screen frame is often perfectly straight and worth re-screening at $65 rather than replacing. The hardware on sliding doors is a different story — original rollers from 1968 have earned their retirement.
What we see most in Spring Valley
- Original sliding screen doors that have never been serviced. Bent bottom rails, seized rollers, mesh gone soft. The $159 door service covers new mesh, cleaned and lubricated rollers and track, and a height adjustment — and it saves most of these doors.
- Canyon-lot insect problems. Homes backing onto canyon get small insects that pass straight through standard fiberglass. Fine no-see-um mesh is $29.95 more per window screen and worth every cent if you have been closing the windows to keep them out.
- Sun and heat on the west-facing slopes. Spring Valley gets East County heat. Mesh on west elevations goes brittle first, and solar screens make a real difference on afternoon rooms.
- Whole-house screen sets. Many of these homes have never had their screens done at all. Doing eight or ten in one visit is far cheaper per screen than piecemeal work, since the visit is the fixed cost.

My screens are fifty years old. Can they be saved?
Often yes. Inland frames do not corrode the way coastal ones do, so an original aluminum frame from the 1960s is frequently still straight and sound. If it is, re-screening at $65 for a standard size gives you a screen as good as new. We will tell you on site which ones are worth saving.
What mesh keeps out the small bugs from the canyon?
Fine no-see-um mesh, which has a much tighter weave than standard fiberglass. It is a $29.95 upgrade per window screen and $59.95 per screen door, and it is the usual answer for homes backing onto open canyon.
Is it cheaper to do all my screens at once?
Considerably. Pricing is per screen and the visit is a fixed cost, so every additional screen in the same trip lowers what you pay per screen. With a $159 minimum service call, a single small screen costs the same as three.
