Sliding glass door service is $245, or $345 for a door over 36″×80″. That is the heavy glass door, not the screen. Tracks and rollers cleaned and lubricated, locks checked, door height re-set so it moves with one hand.
If you are leaning into it with your shoulder, this is the fix — and it is almost never a new door.

What it costs
- $245 — service on a standard door up to 36″×80″.
- $345 — service on anything over 36″×80″.
- $39–$59 each — rollers, if they need replacing. Most doors take two.
- $100 — removing and reinstalling the fixed glass panel, which is often the only way to reach the rollers.
A typical Chula Vista repair with two new rollers lands between $323 and $463 all in. You get that number before we start, not after.
Why patio doors fail here
Almost every Chula Vista home built between the 1970s and the 1990s has a wide aluminum patio slider, and they all fail the same way. The door rides on two rollers carrying a heavy glass panel. Grit works into the bottom track, the rollers wear flat, and the door starts dragging on the track itself. Once that happens the aluminum track lip gets burred over, which makes the dragging worse.
People usually call us after months of leaning on it. By then the fix is the same, it just takes a little longer: strip the track, straighten the lip, new rollers, re-hang and re-set the height.
This is the highest-ticket thing we do short of a new door, and it is also the one people most often assume needs a full replacement. It almost never does. A $245 service on a door somebody was quoted thousands to replace is a good day for both of us.
What we do not do
We are straight about the limits. We do not replace the glass itself, and if a panel has a failed seal and is fogged between the panes that is a glazier’s job. If the door frame has dropped because the slab has moved, a new door will not fix that either, and we will tell you rather than sell you one.
We warranty our labor for one year.
What happens when you call
- Text a photo of the door and the bottom track.
- We confirm the price and whether the fixed panel needs to come out.
- We come to you — this is all done in place.
- Most doors take one to two hours including the track work.
What neighbors say
“Alex was a true craftsman. He made sure my new screen door slid and moved perfectly, and considering he had to make it fit French doors from the 1980s I’m sure it was a challenge!”

Chula Vista patio door questions
Why is my sliding glass door so hard to open?
Almost always worn rollers, a track packed with grit, or a door that has dropped out of alignment. Service is $245 for a standard door and $345 for anything over 36 by 80 inches. Rollers are $39 to $59 each and most doors take two.
Do I need a whole new patio door?
Very rarely. Most Chula Vista doors that people think need replacing need rollers and a cleaned, straightened track. We will tell you before we start if yours is genuinely past saving.
Do you have to take the door out?
Sometimes the fixed glass panel has to come out to reach the rollers, which is $100. We will say whether that is needed when you send a photo.
Do you fix the screen door at the same time?
Yes, and most people have us do both while we are there. Screen door service is $159 and the two together take about two hours.
If you are leaning into it with your shoulder, this is the fix — and it is almost never a new door.
