Window Re-Screening in Point Loma

New mesh in the frame you already have starts at $45. Point Loma frames are usually still solid — it is the mesh that salt air breaks down first. We re-screen on site, with the price set before we arrive.

Coastal re-screening work — the same salt-air problem we see across the peninsula.

Why re-screening usually wins here

Point Loma has a lot of older, well-kept, owner-occupied housing, much of it predating modern mesh coatings. Salt air off the water does not care how well a house is kept: it corrodes aluminum and breaks down the coating on standard fiberglass years faster than it would a few miles inland.

The good news is that most Point Loma frames are still straight and structurally fine. On this peninsula re-screening is the dominant job and usually the right economic call — the frame does another decade and only the mesh needs replacing. The exception is the homes closest to the water, where frames corrode and chalk faster. We will tell you honestly when one is past saving.

What it costs

Priced by the screen’s longest side, and the same whether you are a block from the water or up on the hill.

  • Under 20 inches: $45
  • 20 to under 50 inches: $65
  • 50 inches and over: $85
  • Pet-resistant, solar or fine no-see-um mesh: +$29.95 per screen

There is a $159 minimum per visit, applied to the work rather than added to it. Most Point Loma homes have three or more screens worth doing at once, which clears it comfortably.

Screen doors are a separate $159 service that covers new mesh, the rollers, the track and the door height.

When we would recommend a new frame instead

We re-screen when the frame is honest about it: square corners and no corrosion at all, aluminum that is discoloured rather than corroded. If there is any corrosion in the frame, we recommend replacing the frame as well rather than re-screening it. New mesh in a corroded frame is money you end up spending twice.

In that case a new screen and frame is $59, $89 or $119 depending on size, or $169 for a casement window with a lip frame. It is the same problem we see far more of on Coronado, just less often here.

We warranty our labor for one year.

Point Loma re-screening questions

How much does it cost to re-screen a window in Point Loma?

Re-screening an existing frame runs $45 to $85 depending on size. There is a $159 minimum per visit, applied to the work, so bundling several windows into one visit is the efficient way to go.

Will re-screening hold up, or do I need a new frame?

Most Point Loma frames are still straight and sound, so re-screening is usually enough and cheaper. We recommend a new frame whenever there is any corrosion at all, or where the corners have separated — which happens mainly on homes closest to the water.

How long does it take?

Most individual windows are done in well under an hour once we are on site. A full house of screens is usually a single visit.

Can I get pet-resistant or solar mesh instead of standard fiberglass?

Yes, for $29.95 more per screen. Fine no-see-um mesh is available at the same upgrade price.

Do you serve rentals as well as owner-occupied homes?

Yes. Most of our Point Loma work is owner-occupied, but we quote rental turnovers too.
