New mesh in the frame you already have starts at $45. Most windows in Clairemont and Bay Park still carry their original aluminum frames from the 1950s and 60s building boom, and those frames are usually straight enough to simply re-screen.

Straight frames make re-screening the easy fix
Clairemont grew fast from 1950, with as many as seven houses a day between 1952 and 1954, which is how the neighborhood ended up with such a large, uniform stock of single-storey homes built around the same aluminum window sections. Bay Park’s older 1936 subdivision, with its larger lots, has its own share of long-lived original frames.
Because that aluminum holds up well this far from the open ocean, and because the sizing repeats street after street, the mesh is almost always what fails first rather than the frame. That is exactly the case where re-screening makes more sense than paying for a whole new screen.
What it costs
Priced by the screen’s longest side.
- Under 20 inches: $45
- 20 to under 50 inches: $65
- 50 inches and over: $85
- Pet-resistant, solar or fine no-see-um mesh: +$29.95 per screen over standard fiberglass
A $65 re-screen on a straight frame gets you the same result as an $89 new screen, for less. We will say so even though the more expensive option would be the easier sale.
When re-screening is not the answer
Re-screening only works if the frame is straight. If a corner has cracked, the frame is bent, or hardware is missing, a new window screen and frame is the honest recommendation instead: $59, $89 or $119 depending on size, or $169 for a casement window with a lip frame.
Sun exposure matters here too. Windows facing west or south take hard afternoon heat, and standard fiberglass on those elevations wears out long before the frame around it. If you are re-screening a west- or south-facing window anyway, the solar mesh upgrade at $29.95 is worth it.
We warranty our labor for one year.

Clairemont re-screening questions
How do the $45, $65 and $85 tiers work?
By the screen’s longest side. Under 20 inches is $45, 20 up to 50 inches is $65, and 50 inches and over is $85.
Can I take the old screens out before you arrive?
Most window screens lift out with a firm push from the inside. If you are comfortable doing that it saves a few minutes, but it is not required and we are happy to do it.
Is a re-screened window as durable as a brand new screen?
Yes, as long as the frame is straight. The mesh is the part that wears out, and re-screening replaces exactly that.
What if my frame turns out to be bent or cracked?
Then we recommend a new window screen and frame instead, at $59, $89 or $119 depending on size, or $169 for a casement window with a lip frame. We tell you on site before doing anything.
Do you offer anything other than standard fiberglass mesh?
Yes. Pet-resistant, solar and fine no-see-um mesh are all available for $29.95 more per screen.
Most Clairemont frames are still straight — send a photo and we will tell you honestly whether re-screening is enough.
