What it costs
- $45 — re-screen, under 20 inches on the long side.
- $65 — re-screen, 20 inches to under 50 inches.
- $85 — re-screen, 50 inches and over.
- +$29.95 per screen for pet-resistant, solar or fine no-see-um mesh.
The $159 minimum service call is applied to the work. In practice that means one screen on its own costs $159, and three or more puts you past the minimum paying only for the work. Gathering up everything that needs doing and handling it in one visit is the cheapest way to buy this service, and we will say so on the phone.
Most Chula Vista frames are worth keeping
We ran 24 re-screening jobs in Chula Vista last year, and on the large majority the original frame was fine. That is a South Bay advantage: you are far enough from the open ocean that frames here do not corrode and chalk the way they do in Imperial Beach or Coronado. An aluminum frame from a 1980s tract home is usually straight, the corners are still tight, and all it needs is mesh.
So the honest answer in Chula Vista is usually the cheap one. New mesh at $65 gives you a screen as good as a new one, and we only recommend building a new screen when the frame is genuinely bent, corroded or missing. You get that recommendation standing at the window with you, before anything comes apart.
Which mesh to choose
Standard fiberglass is included in every price above and is the right answer for most windows. The upgrades are worth it in specific situations, not across the board.
- Pet-resistant — a cat that climbs or a dog that leans. About seven times the tensile strength of standard mesh.
- Solar sun screen — the west-facing rooms that are unusable at four in the afternoon. Cuts heat and glare while keeping the view out.
- Fine no-see-um — if you back onto a canyon or open ground and small insects come straight through the standard mesh.
We warranty our labor for one year.
What happens when you call
- Text a photo and a rough count of how many screens need work.
- We quote the whole set, usually the same day.
- We come to you and build on site — nothing leaves your property.
- A whole-house set usually takes one to two hours.

Chula Vista re-screening questions
Is it cheaper to re-screen or replace a window screen?
Re-screen, when the frame is straight — and in Chula Vista it usually is. Re-screening a midsize frame is $65 against $89 to build a new one, and the result is the same. We only recommend a new screen when the frame is bent, corroded or gone.
How many screens do I need for it to be worth a visit?
There is a $159 minimum applied to the work, so one small screen still costs $159. Three or more midsize screens takes you past the minimum, and from there you pay only for the work.
Do you have to take my screens away?
No. We build on site in the van. The screens come out, get new mesh and spline, and go back in the same visit.
How long does new mesh last in Chula Vista?
Standard fiberglass here typically runs ten years or more, because you are far enough inland to avoid the salt that shortens screen life on the coast. Sun exposure on the west and south elevations is what usually gets them first.
