New Window Screens in Chula Vista

A new window screen is $59 small, $89 midsize and $119 for 50 inches and over. Casement screens with a lip frame are $169. We measure the opening and build the screen in the van, so it goes in the same visit.

If the frame is bent, corroded or missing, this is the fix. If it is straight, re-screening is cheaper — and we will say so.

When a new screen is the right call

Eighteen of our 104 Chula Vista jobs last year were new screens rather than re-screens. The pattern is consistent: a frame that has been forced back into a window one too many times, a corner joint that has pulled open, or an opening where the screen went missing years ago and nobody could find one to fit.

That last case is the most common here. Chula Vista tract homes were built in runs, and the window sizes are not standard retail sizes. A screen from a big-box store will be close, and close does not hold. We measure your opening and build to it, which is why the screen sits flush instead of bowing out of the track.

Large and picture windows

Eastern Chula Vista — Eastlake, Otay Ranch, Rancho del Rey — has a lot of large picture windows and tall slider windows over 50 inches. Those are the $119 size and they need a heavier frame section than a bathroom screen, or they flex in the wind and pop out. We carry both weights on the van.

Bronze and almond frame colors are stocked alongside standard mill finish, so a new screen does not stand out against the ones either side of it.

We warranty our labor for one year.

New screen questions

How much is a new window screen in Chula Vista?

$59 under 20 inches, $89 from 20 to under 50 inches, and $119 at 50 inches and over. A casement screen with a lip frame is $169. Those prices include the frame, standard fiberglass mesh and fitting.

Can you match my existing screens?

Usually, yes. We stock mill, bronze and almond frame finishes and standard fiberglass mesh, which covers the great majority of Chula Vista housing stock. We will tell you honestly if yours is an odd color we cannot match.

My window has no screen at all. Can you still make one?

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do here. We measure the opening on site and build to it. Nothing needs to exist beforehand.

Why not just buy one from the hardware store?

Because Chula Vista window openings were built in tract runs and are rarely a standard retail size. A close-enough screen bows in the track and pops out. Built to the opening, it sits flush and stays put.
