The same sliding door, block after block
Clairemont was built out from 1950 in one hard push — seven houses a day at the peak between 1952 and 1954 — and the sliding patio door with its companion screen door was part of the standard package on almost every one. Bay Park’s older 1936 section has its share too.
So the same handful of failures shows up over and over: mesh punched through by a pet or a gust, rollers flattened until the door sags into the track, or a track packed with grit that makes it stick. Because the openings are so consistent across Bay Ho, Bay Park, North Clairemont and Clairemont Mesa, we usually know before we arrive whether a standard door fits or the opening needs one built to size.

Service the door you have, or build a new one
If the frame is still square, service is almost always the answer. We only recommend a new door when the frame itself is bent or twisted, usually from being forced along a dirty track for years, or when it is missing hardware that a replacement roller cannot fix.
West- and south-facing patios here take hard afternoon sun, and that heat is as tough on door mesh as it is on window screens. On those exposures a pet-resistant or solar mesh upgrade lasts noticeably longer than standard fiberglass.
